General description

Choquequirao Trek 5 Días 4 Noches

The Choquequirao Trek 5D/4N is a more complete and relaxed version of the expedition to the great lost city of the Incas. Designed for travelers who want to explore in greater depth both the archaeological complex and the landscapes that surround it, this program offers balanced days that allow you to better enjoy the experience. Choquequirao is strategically located on a mountain range that dominates the impressive Apurimac Canyon. Its remote location and difficult access have allowed it to preserve much of its authenticity, making it one of the most fascinating archaeological destinations in South America. During the walk, travelers travel along historic trails used since pre-Hispanic times. The descent towards the Apurímac River represents one of the most demanding moments of the expedition, while the subsequent ascent towards Choquequirao constitutes a spectacular reward for those who complete the challenge. Unlike other busier archaeological sites, Choquequirao allows you to enjoy a much quieter and more authentic experience. It is common to spend long periods touring archaeological sectors without encountering large groups of visitors. The agricultural terraces, ceremonial plazas, temples and residential sectors show the importance that this center had during the height of the Inca Empire. One of the most photographed sectors corresponds to the famous terraces decorated with figures of llamas built with white stones embedded in the walls. The additional duration of the program allows you to explore less visited areas of the archaeological complex and better understand the magnitude of this impressive site. In addition to its historical value, the route offers extraordinary opportunities for landscape photography, bird watching and contact with Andean nature.
