General description
Ascenso al Volcán Misti 2D/1N
The 2-day / 1-night Inca Trail is the ideal alternative if you want an authentic stretch of the Qhapaq Ñan without the demand of the classic four-day trek. It combines hiking, archaeology, and arrival at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).
The journey starts with a transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo and a train to Km 104 (Chachabamba), the official checkpoint. From there you hike the historic trail toward Wiñay Wayna (2,650 m a.s.l.), with subtropical vegetation, waterfalls, and terraces unique to this route.
After lunch you continue to Inti Punku for the first panoramic view of the citadel, then descend to Aguas Calientes to overnight in a hotel and rest.
Day two is dedicated to Machu Picchu: entry according to the booked circuit, a guided visit of the main sectors, and free time for photos before the train back to Ollantaytambo and transfer to Cusco.
